Spain/Portugal in march

We will be attending a wedding in Tui (near Vigo) Spain in early march 2001. We'll only have 7-10 days and would like to see some of Spain &/or Portugal while we're there. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Flights to Madrid seem to be the most cost effective at the moment, which may make Spain a more logical place.

You could fly into Madrid and take the bus (2 hour trip) to Salamanca. When we did a similar trip we spent 2 nights there and then, picked up our rental car to drive north.

From Salamanca you could visit Porto and Santiago de Compostela (my favorite.) Santiago isn't too far from Vigo. You could return the same route or map a different one using www.viamichelin.com.

Coimbra is another interesting city along the way.

This is just one option!

Thanks! Can you recommend places to stay, or eat that you enjoyed?

We just got an invite to share a week at Rio Minho villa in Villa Nova De Cerveira, Portugal. Is there anything to see for day trips from there?

I'm not familiar with the time share location that you mentioned--it sounds like a good opportunity!

In Santiago we loved our stay at Hotel Costa Vella. Santiago also has lots of great restaurants.

I might be able to make other suggestions once your itinerary is firmed up.
