Spain must sees

planning spain trip in septemeber(yes very late)
Fly in Madrid (4n), train Granada (2n) fly to Barcelona (3n) then train to Arles/Avignon to start provence. I have left out Cordoba/ Seville but tempted. Is it a must see leg of the trip?

We loved Cordoba and Sevilla, I wouldn't leave them out.

You don't say how much time you have. If you only have the 9 nights then you have a good plan already. I assume you'll visit Toledo as a daytrip from Madrid. And I believe that Cordoba can be done on your way to Granada. That only leaves Sevilla, one of my personal favorites but it needs 2 nights minimum. I you have 2 more nights, add it, otherwise, you'll see a lot and don't worry too much about what you miss.

Ditto what Douglas said. If you haven't, reserve your Alhambra tickets now.
