Spain Itinerary Help?

We will only be in Spain once but want to see as much as possible. We will land in Madrid, on to Toledo, Seville, Granada. We will have 6 days left. We would like to spend time in Barcelona and area surrounding and perhaps get to San Sebastian/Bilbao. Do we have tooo little time to do all of this in 6 days? Should we go from Madrid to Barcelona or from Madrid to Basque country and then to Barcelona? Could Barcelona take all 6 days? Thank you Terri

With six days left, you should have plenty of time to visit San Sebastian, then onto Barcelona. If you're travelling by car, the roads are excellent, altho the toll highways in Catalonia can get expensive. If you are travelling by train, there are excellent connections Madrid-San Sebastian (5 1/2-6 1/2 hours, several/day) and less so, San Sebastian-Barcelona (2 good trains/day, about 5 1/2 hours). If your train journeys are pretty well set, you can go to the RENFE website, click on "Buy Tickets" at the upper center, enter your travel information, and get up to 60% off the regular fares...you can book up to 62 days in advance, with print-at-home tickets.

Hey, Terri! Sure, there's time to explore what you've identified, but I would spend at least 3 nights in Barcelona, a great city with so much to see and do! Here are links to my travel blog with our Report from Spain (including Barcelona, Madrid, Toledo & Sevilla) and our itinerary, with restaurants, hotels, etc. Hope this helps!
