Spain in winter-itinerary help please

We will have about ten days to travel in Spain at the end of December, beginning of January. We'd like to visit Barcelona, Madrid, Toledo & Granada. Is this too much in ten days (does not include travel to and from the US)? I'm considering eliminating Barcelona because it is so much further north and might be too cold to enjoy at that time of the year.

It is too much. I would drop Barcelona because it doesn't fit well because of location and not because of the weather. You need to use an open jaw ticket. We did a ten day trip over New Years a couple of years. Into Madrid (3), Cordoba (1), Seville(3-New Years), Granada (3) and home from Malaga. You could use one of the Madrid days for a day trip to Toledo. You must obtain tickets well in advance for the Alhambra in Granada. Save Barcelona for the next trip.

Frank gives you excellent advice. I would do overnight in Toledo if possible...It is a different city with the tourists gone, but in December there may not be that many tourist. Hostal Posada de Manolo is excellent in Toledo. Really discover Seville in Sevilla is also excellent.

Both posts above are spot-on. Good plan, great hotel. Sleep in Toledo (well worth it) at Posada de Manolo if you can manage it.

Thank you all for the input. After reading your posts, I've decided to skip Barcelona this trip.

It's about 5 hours by train or bus between Madrid and Granada. You can save a lot by buying tickets online. The Trip Advisor forum for Spain has clear, comprehensive explanations and directions for trains - be sure to register your credit card with Mastercard Secure or Verified-by-Visa or it won't work. Reduced rate tickets go on sale 3-4 months in advance and are often sold out quickly. You should register your card before you go anyway, since some other vendors in Spain may require the added security layer. If you want to stay overnight in Toledo, you may want to do that on your last night, then take the train to Madrid, then to the airport. That would save you changing hotels. You can check train schedules at the official website, renfe.com. Here's the site for the bus Madrid/Granada https://www.alsa.es/en/buy-and-schedules/
