My husband and I plan to travel to spain portugal and morocco in june, could some one advise us on crowds and how hot it might be? mind you the temp today is 45 degrees celsius with code catastrophic fire conditions.
This will be our third "Rick Steves" assisted Europe trip, we dont leave home with out his book!

Hi Lyn

We are Australian but now live in southern Spain. July is generally the hottest month in the south of Spain, followed by August.

June would generally be lower - in the mid 30's maybe.....whereas July and August are high 30's to low 40's depending on where you are. That said, we are having the coldest wettest winter so hard to predict in some respects. I am sure you will be fine and crowds will not be too high - but higher than July and August which are the months the tourists avoid. The most crowded we have ever found Seville was over Christmas with people escaping the cold elsewhere in Europe and North American.

Cannot comment on Portugal or Morocco temps.

Thanks so much for your reply.
We have decided to go early june, and i am pleased to hear the crowds wont be too bad at that time as we will be traveling independantly, no tours.
It's nice to hear from fellow aussies as you understand our meaning of what is too hot!!
Once again thank you for going to the trouble of replying

Hi Lyn

We do laugh a bit at the spanish when they say it is SOOO hot.....we are originally from Adelaide so low 40's is pretty normal in summer, often for extended periods.

If I can assist with any specific recommendations - especially around Seville or Granada, PM me - would be happy to help.
