Just booked for the RS-spain/portugal tour in April/May- does anyone have any idea if its more T-shirts weather or long-sleves and light sweater? It looks like days/eve are mixed warm/cool weather in spring? Thanks!
Tom, springtime weather can be crazy in most parts of the world, and Spain is certainly no exception -- especially since the tour covers a fair amount of ground, and several different climate systems. In southern Spain at that time of year you will probably face fairly high daytime temperatures, but it can get cool (not cold) during the night. In the north, it will be windier and that may require more clothing. I usually wear either a tee-shirt and flannel shirt, or a n Oxford shirt with a light wool sports coat. Either option is usually sufficient and both give a fairly wide range of dress-up or dress-down possibilities. Enjoy the trip.
p.s. if the tour coincides with Semana Santa (Easter) in the south, you will probably want to bring a sportscoat, in order not to feel out of place.
I was in Spain in April and early May this year. The weather was great. It was not too hot and not too cold. It did rain a few times but not for a long period of time. I would say it was in the high 60's maybe 72 at the highest. I thought it was great. I had t-shirts with capri pants and a light jacket on hand and I was okay. Enjoy Spain, it is a lovely place. -Kim
