Can anyone recommend a few small, safe, culturally-rich towns, not too touristy and preferably coastal, that are not more than a few hours from an international airport? This is for a 15 year old looking to spend 3-4 weeks (during summer) in a homestay while studying language.
I appreciate any suggestions

Salamanca is a great university town geared for students in the summertime. Plenty of options available i'm sure, and it is in the region of the country known for the 'purest' form of Castilian Spanish. Not near the coast, but definitely the best place as far as academics/learning go.
