Spain/France Border Areas - Great Beach Resorts?

We are looking for a great beach area/resort to "chill" for 7 days in July w/our 3 kids ages 6-10. We have 10 days - starting in Toulouse, FR. We are looking for a resort with lots of comforts but not quite 4 Seasons cost. We hate beaches w/wall-to-wall bodies and would adore an area with more of a quite beach to linger all day. Comparing to Hawaii - NOT Waikiki, less Kaanapali and more Wailea. Does it exist? Thinking either the San Sebastian area or Costa Brava...or should we head to the islands? Or should we get a flight from Toulouse and hit another area instead? Thank you!

I enjoyed Sitges, just south of Barcelona. It wasn't too crowded and the beach was a nice place to hang out. I don't remember there being a lot of resorts, but I think you could probably rent a house/apartment for 7 days.

The coast from Bordeaux to Biarritz is the largest beach in Europe. About 150 miles. Beat that! It is about as far from "wall to wall" with people as you can get. There are MANY spots all along that coast that cater for kids like yours and plenty of gorgeous little towns to stay in. One word of warning, if you are coming to this area in July, be aware of the Tour de France route - everywhere is booked solid while they are in town!

Another vote for Sitges, it's a great beach community. We actually stayed there and and took the train into Barcelona. Lots of small hotels/B&Bs and restaurants along the beach and elsewhere. A proper SANDY beach with a promenade. There is also a decent sized grocery store next to the train station. On the west side of the France/Spain border we would return to St Jean-de-Luz. We liked San Sebastian but it is a LARGE city, more like Waikiki.

Many thanks! This is great advice, I'll check into all of those areas pronto. We may have more like 10 days and could do it all! :)
