Spain Bus Companies

In my research, I have come across this website www.viajesfuentes.es for bus prices & schedules. Is this the best site or are there others? I was planning to take the train from Madrid to Sevilla, a bus from Sevilla to Granada, a bus from Granada to Nerja, a bus from Nerja to Malaga, and the train from Malaga back to Madrid. Is that the best plan price and time-wise? I've looked into flights from Malaga to Madrid, but they seemed expensive for the times I wanted. Also, has anyone booked bus tickets ahead of time to get a promotional price? How did that work? Thanks.

Have you consider flying home from Malaga? It is a large international airport. For our last Spain trip we flew into Madrid and home from Malaga While we have frequently used Spain buses we have never purchased tickets in advance so I don't know if there are promotional fares or not. However, the bus fares are so cheap that I don't see them offering much in the way of advance purchase discounts. Good luck

I wish I could fly out of Malaga, but I've already booked my airfare, so it's too late to change. I didn't even know about Malaga until I started fleshing out the details of getting from Nerja to Madrid. :(

spanish bus are pretty comfy and not crowed. i have bought tickets right before the ride - it's easy and cheap. for long distance train or flight might be better, but for short distance don't stress out -bus is definitely the way to go.

In May 2009 we took the Alsa bus line from Madrid to Lisbon because we wanted to see the countryside during the day. I booked tickets online in advance with a credit card, got cheap fares & you can select seats, altho there were plenty of empty seats available. The website is www.alsa.es and click on the British flag at the top right for English.

We will be in Spain again this October, & I will be using Alsa again for Cazorla to Granada. The international bus we used was clean & comfy. The domestic busses may not be quite as nice, but I expect they will be just fine.

Check that website against www.movelia.es. As for train fares, you can get discount web fares at the Spanish rail site, RENFE. The tickets can be up to 60% off and can be booked 62 days in advance....most important for your Madrid-Sevilla run.
