We want to fly into Barcelona and spend the night. In the morning begin our explorations of Ronda(3 days),Granada(3 days),Toledo(2 days), then stay in Barcelona(4 days) before we fly out. We hope to use train travel if possibe. Is this enough/too much time in each place? Any advice would be helpful.
It's hard to get much further from Barcelona than Ronda. Couldn't you land any place closer?
You might have more time in Ronda than you need, but more time is better than too little. If nothing else it gives you some time to relax. Granada only connects well with Seville (then back up toward Madrid) by train. A bus from Toledo might be both faster and cheaper than a train. I'd probably go Barcelona for four days, then Toledo, then Ronda (by bus), then Granada and see about flying home from Granada to save time. Alternatively you could fly from Granada to Barcelona (check Vueling.com) to catch your flight home.
From Barcelona WE would make our way to Valencia (a beautiful, clean city) and stay the night. Next stop Granada for 3 days and then over to Ronda for an overnighter (3 days there would be way to much time for US but maybe not YOU?). Don't know the transportation options from Ronda (we drive), might be just as easy to return to Granada and then fly to Madrid? Stay the night in Madrid and then take the early train to Toledo for your 2 day visit. Return to Madrid and use the extra Ronda days(?) before flying back to Barcelona. That is the way we would go. Hasta la Vista!
Couldn't you fly into Madrid(MAD) and then leave out of Barcelona(BCN). Check Renfe Train schedules and you will notice that there are NO trains from BCN to Ronda or returning. If you drive from BCN to Ronda, it might take you 12-14 hours. I've flown into MAD and left out of BCN a couple of times. BCN is so far from Ronda and Andalusia you're going to lose a whole day traveling. What I would do is fly into MAD and go to Toledo for your two days. Then you are going to have to back track to MAD to go to Granada. There are no trains from Toledo to Granada. How you're going to get to Ronda from MAD, Granada or Toledo is...? Car? Alsa bus line? Good luck on that one? From Granada to BCN there is a regular train and an overnight train, it takes about 11.5 hours. Just wanted to show you how much time you might waste by flying to the very northeast part of Spain, then heading to the south and then heading back north. Couldn't you fly into Granada and then work north to BCN?
This past May/June we flew into Barcelona, stayed for a couple of nites, took one of the cheap inter EU airlines (search for them on Whichbudget.com) and flew from Barcelona to Granada. Then we rented a car and did Granada for 2 nites, Cordoba for 2, Seville for 4, Terifa for 2, Ronda for 3, and flew out of Malaga. We found lots of great flights out of Malaga.
