Any must sees in this area (Ticino and further south)? Lake Como? Lugano? I probably wouldn't want to go as far south as Milan. Most likely it will be in the Dec/Jan time frame and I will be using public transportation. I was in other parts of Switzerland last year so I'm familiar with the train system.

Very very few people (reporting in here) go to Lake Como in Dec/Jan. It's an outdoor place. Here's a further discussion of this
