We have seven days in Southern Spain (flying into Grenada)before we go to Portugal. We will have two nights in Grenada and two nights in the white villages area. For the remainder of our time would you recommend two nights in Seville or a trip to Morocco/Gibraltar? Any ideas?
Southern Spain is a very large area and one in which you could easily spend 7 days and, as I understand it, 6 nights. I wouldn´t recommend a trip to either Morocco or Gibraltar unless you have a burning desire to do so. You will chew up a lot of time for a fleeting visit, especially to Morocco. Granada is lovely and very deserving of at least 2 nights, as is Seville. There are white villages all over Andalucia so I am not sure where you may plan to stay. Other great places are Cordoba, Antequera, Malaga, Nerja, Cadiz, Ronda and Jerez. Where you go and stay will also depend on how you are travelling - car, train or fly.
I spent 3 weeks in Andalusia. There is so much to see. The English expats I met along the way (there are many) all said Gibraltar wasn't worth it, so I passed it up and never missed it. If you want scones and clotted cream you can find it along the coast, where most of the Brits live. With only a couple of days, you'd really only see Tangiers, which (according to my research for the trip) isn't worth the time it takes to get there. There's a Moroccan market in Granada, next to the cathedral. Do that instead. Seville has a wonderful Alcazar and quite a bit more. It's not far to Jerez, the sherry capital of the world, if you want to do some tasting.
Wouldn't miss Seville for the world. Beautiful city. Gorgeous at night too.
