My daughter is studying in Sevilla, Spain and I will be visiting her for approximately 10 days. Am wondering how to plan side trips around her school schedule. I was wondering if a trip from Sevilla to Ronda is good for a two day weekend and then a longer trip to Cordoba and Granada for a four day trip. We will be relying on buses and or trains. Any suggestions? Also, I will be adventurous and stay in a hostel in Sevilla, Triana Backpackers, any info appreciated. I speak Spanish so the language doesn't bother me...I want to soak up the culture as much as possible!
Karen....that itinerary sounds very do-able from Sevilla. Bus service is excellent in Spain, and inexpensive. Cordoba-Granada is about 2 1/2 to 2:45 and costs about 13 Euro. Between Granada and Sevilla, it's about 2:45 to 3:15, and costs 19 Euro. Bus Sevilla-Ronda is a little more difficult, since you have to go thru Jerez, and the combinations make only one trip feasible...leaving Sevilla at 445 pm and getting into Ronda at 915 pm....altho that may change by the time you check for your trip. For this run, the train might be better. Travel time is 2:45 to 3:15...and you change in either Cordoba or Bobadilla. You can find all the bus schedules and prices at www.movelia.es and the train schedules and costs at www.renfe.es. As for accommodations, many of the hostels in Sevilla (and elsewhere, of course) have private rooms that can be inexpensive. Another alternative are "hostals," two-star hotels (usually family run) that are good value for money in Spain. Have a great trip!
Thank you. We are trying to work out the details of getting to Ronda. It doesn't appear to be as easy as I thought. My daughter is looking into that from Sevilla.
