Southern Route from Albertville France to Interlaken

I'm wondering if anyone has done a southern car route from Albertville, France to the Interlaken area of Switzerland? Are the roads over the mountains good and fairly easy to travel? We are thinking of doing a loop car trip from Albertville to Lauterbrunnen to Avenches to Geneva to Albertville, so we wanted to go a southern route from Albertville to Lauterbrunnen. This is for August, so we hope the weather would not be a factor. Thanks for any input!

All roads are clear and easy to drive in August. What do you mean by Southern route? A scenic one is from that Industrial city of Albertville via Megève and Chamonix to Martigny (CH), then via Sierre to Leuk (you cross the language line between Sierre and Leuk [pronounced: Loyk]. A sidetrip to Leukerbad [Loyker-Bahd] might be interesting. Then on via Obergorns and Brienz [Bree-Ants] to Lauterbrunnen.

All the roads we encountered in those areas were wonderful. You could go thru Aosta, Italy then up over the Grand St Bernard pass into Switzerland, or thru Chamonix France and over the pass into Switzerland near Martigny. Which ever way you pick it will be a scenic trip. Many of those mountain routes were on the 2009 Tour de France route. You could google that and watch some of the stage videos and see the roads for yourself. Hard to pick a bad way to go. The views of Mont Blanc from Chamonix are hard to beat -- but the Grand St Bernard pass was pretty neat too.
