Southern germany hotels

We are traveling to southern Germany the first week of Sept. Any recommendations on B&B's or hotels in either Meersburg or Friedrichshafen? We are looking for nice accommodations.... good location, ambiance, views. Thanks, John

Go to GoogleMaps.com. Put in Mersburg, Germany and a map will come up. Magnify the map hitting +,+,+. All of a sudden, all the hotels and bed and breakfasts in the city will pop up on the map. Click on the accommodation, and details will pop up. That includes often giving you their website. There are a bunch of places to stay in Meersburg.
GoogleMaps works in this same way just about anywhere in the world, and it's a great travel tool.

I've never stayed in either town, but I recommend using the town website to find accommodations. Meersburg town website is at www.meersburg.de and has an English side. (Note, free accommodations means "available accommodations", as in "Zimmer frei", not costless ones! Accommodations in Friedrichshafen can be found at www.friedrichshafen.de (also in English). In Friedrichshafen, I recommend seeing the Zeppelin Museum.

Try the lovely town of Uberlingen, directly on the shore of the Bodensee. The Ochsen Hotel is very good, family-run with an outstanding restaurant.

We stayed at the lovely and very historical Gasthof zum Baeren in Meersburg on two separate occasions. The owner is also the Chef. The gasthof has been in his family for generations. Email them for reservations in English and they will respond in English as well. http://www.baeren-meersburg.de/ We have also stayed in Uberlingen at the Hotel Ochsen and enjoyed it very much. The old town is beautiful and they have a charming lake promenade with restaurants and outdoor cafes.

They are just a short distance apart. I have also stayed in Lindau. While the town is beautiful, if you ARE driving, be aware that traffic into and out of Lindau is usually backed up because there is only way one on and off the insel. This can be a real pain.
