SOUTHERN FRANCE BEAULIEU SUR MER

Fellow Travelers: I need lots of ideas for the last part of my vacation. I again will be staying in the town of Beaulieu Sur Mer. Last year I was a spectator at the Film Festival. I went to Monte Carol to the beautiful Botanica Garden (Jardin Exotique). I took the train to Menton and spent some time there. I will have 6 days to be in Southern France and want to again have my home base in Beaulieu Sur Mer. I visited the Villa DE Rohchild and Saint Jean Cap Ferrat. Please give me some ideas of what to see this year. I can only travel by train. All help would be most appreciated. You all have been such a wonderful help in the past years of my traveling.
Is anyone going to be in this town between the dates of 6/10 to 6/16????

1) The Japanese Garden in Monaco 2) The Princess Grace Rose Garden in Monaco, near the heliport 3) If you can use a bus, Eze le Village and climb up to their Jardin Exotique. 4) Take a crash course (Crash - get it?) in Formula 1 and watch the Monaco Grand Prix before you go and then walk or ride the buses on the various bits you saw in the race. 5) Take the boat ride between Nice and Monaco. 6) Parasail at Nice. 7) Visit the calanques, or bus or local train along the coast east of St Rafael. 8) Take another walk around Cap Ferrat, stopping off for a swim or rock walk.
9) Walk along the shore from Cap d'Ail to Monaco and listen to the surf moving the pebbles about. Where have you been happy staying in Beaulieu Sur Mer? We looked again there but were never sure and once again stayed in Monte Carlo.

Hi Virginia, I used Villefranche sur Mer as a home base; the market on Saturday is wonderful, food, clothing, great socca. It has a beautiful waterfront with great restaurants; La Grignotiere and Cosmo are favorites. I took a train to Grasse to the Fragonard factory, what a beautiful town. The market in Nice is great. Friday market in Ventimiglia Italy (end of the train line from France) was fantastic, the market is right on the water. Monaco is worth a day trip too. Have a great time.

It appears that you are an art lover. Here is a list of some of the museums in the area. The Chagall and Matisse museums in Nice. The Picasso museum in Antibes. The Renoir museum in Cagnes-sur-Mer. The Fondation Maeght in St-Paul de Vence (accessible by bus) featuring a permanent collection of works by Braque, Bonnard, Chagall, Matisse, Miro, and Leger plus temporary exhibitions. The Musee National Fernand Leger in Biot (accessible by bus). Do you like to visit churches? The Orthodox cathedral in Nice is said to be the best of its kind outside of Russia.

Thank you all for your help in giving me advise for my new upcoming trip. Yes...I love Art, Nature and all the wonders of Europe. I am going to Nice to visit one specific museum and I don't even know how to get there. I saw a French movie a couple years ago named "Seraphine". The movie was wonderful. Some of this painter's paintings are hanging in the Musée d'art naïf in Nice. 36, avenue Val-Marie, Nice 06200 I must see these paintings! I also love photography and will get a chance to use my new Nikon Lens.
Again thanks to all who helped with my plans in Southern France.

If you go to Cagnes sur Mer, be sure to visit Haut de Cagnes, the medieval part of town. It is beautiful! There is a little bus that will shuttle you up there and down again.
