Southern France

We are thinking of an early April (8 days) stay in southern France. We'd like to be near the water. We like to sight-see, but don't want "night-life" or crowded areas. An island would be OK, too. What are your favorites?

You might want to go to RS Tours and check out the itinerary
for his "Paris and the South of France" to see where that tour goes to give yourself some information about places that they think are important in the south of France. I took that tour a couple of years ago and really enjoyed the south of France part. So, this year I have signed up for the 14-day Village Italy tour. Good luck and happy travels.

My favorite little beach town is west of Nice on the Riviera and it is St. Maxime. It is a nice size town with hotels, shopping, lots of restaurants a wonderful market and the beautiful beach. There is an old carousel in the Park on the beach and it is a really close drive to lots of other towns you can visit. Might be a little cool at that time of year.
