Would like recommendations for where to stay for 3 or 4 days in South of France. Bormes les Mimosas is a possbility-any thoughts? Would prefer small town as will have car and would like to drive along the ocean to see other cities or perhaps even take train to larger cities.

You should check out RS France-2009 guide book if you haven't already. It is full of suggestions for that part of France.

The "South of France" is a large area. We can provide better advice if you are more specific: Provence, Riviera, both, Languedoc, all of the above?

If you're interested in the coast, you might consider Cassis. Beautiful little town on the Med, not far from Aix and the Luberon.
