So how are the RS audio tours for the Paris sights?

I've downloaded the RS audio tours for the Paris sights and am wondering how they compare to the ones at the Louvre, Orsay, etc. Input very much appreciated!

I found it hard to follow the Louvre tour, and though it was interesting it was sketchy - after all the Louvre is huge. I am planning to use the Louvre audio guide on my next trip (only 2 months away, YAY).

The Louvre website also has themed tours ("trails") in pdf format (free). I did one last time and enjoyed it a lot.

I rented the Orsay audio guide and wasn't really thrilled with it (before they started the renovations).

We used his Paris audio tours last April and thought they were pretty great. Everything on his tour were where he said they would be except for a couple of things at the Orsay. They are very detailed versions of his shows, if that helps. They were nice in that they organized the tours into about two-hour manageable chunks, which is pretty much all we wanted to handle in the big museums. Also, you get to use your own "equipment" (i.e., iPod, MP3), which we liked.

The downside is that you get to see what he finds interesting. So, if you have a particular piece you want to see, figure out where it is in the museum and take a break from the audio tour.

Thanks for the info! Sounds like I won't be bothering with the audio tours put out by the museums, and will use the RS ones instead for the most part!

We also had some trouble with the beginning on the RS Louvre tour. The Early statues in "room 1" have been all moved around. Thankfully, my daughter's ipod shows pictures of what we're supposed to be looking at, so with the map we skipped around. Also, the audiotour is a short version of the Louvre tour in the RS Paris book. The audiotour only covers the major works in the Denon wing.
