SMOKING IN PORTUGAL

Hello! Planning to spend 3 weeks in Portugal this coming summer! I am allergic to tobacco smoke. What is the regulation for smoking in Portugal: public buildings, hotels, restaurants, bars, transportation? Do they follow the regulation?
Thank you, Hans

I was there in 2008. I LOATHE smoke, it completely disgusts me. I had no problem at all in any restaurants. Didn't spend any time in bars.

Portugal is great and under-appreciated. Go - you'll have a great time and no worries about the smoke.

Can't help you with the smoking question, but just want to say that you are sooo lucky to spend 3 weeks in Portugal (though it will likely be quite warm during the summer). It's a beautiful country. It's on my "must-get-back-to" list.

We were there in Dec 2007, and had NO problems. My wife has a real bad time around tobacco smoke, but since we stayed out of bars it was not a problem. We frequented many restaurants that had bars, but again we had no problem.

We loved Portugal! Stay North............it will be hot down South!
