Hi, we're traveling to Barcelona with 2 teenagers mid-July and are looking for small towns outside the city we can stay in for a few days that would be away from the crowds but still close enough to swimming. Any suggestions?
Check out Cadaques, Spain as well as Collioure, France.
Tarragona is well worth a visit.
Sitges is about 25 minutes by train - lots of beach.
Is it very crowded in mid-July? We're thinking about spending a few days in Girona and traveling to towns along the coast for day trips from there. what do you think? any ideas or suggestions?
Celia - The poster that suggested cadaquez was spot on - Here's a bit of info. for you.

Sorry - I misspoke about the train from Barcelona to Sitges. It's about 25 miles, but the train takes about 40 minutes.
