Does anyone have suggestions, I would love some help!! I would like the old world charm but be able to visit Munich. We would like to stay somewhat close to the airport because we will be flying in and out a total of 4 times.

Freising is one of the oldest towns in the area. It was a religious and economic center before Munich was founded. In fact, the Duke of Bavaria destroyed its bridge over the Isar River to shift the salt route to a river crossing in a farmer's field that became Munich. http://www.freising.de/

I second this recommendation. We ended there almost by accident and loved the town.
