Small Hotel in Paris

Our favorite small hotel near the Eiffel Tower has been all glammed up and the prices went up accordingly. Looking for a reasonably priced small hotel Rue Cler? Champs Elysees? Any suggestions?

I don't know what your "reasonably priced" is, and I don't know when you're traveling, but for my trip next month I noticed that the Eiffel Park Hotel (which generally gets good reviews) has some amazing deals on their website, if you book the nonrefundable rate--94E, which is incredibly cheap IMO.

Nancy:

Try Hotel St. Dominique on Rue St. Dominique near Rue Cler. About 100 euros or so per night. Just google it - they have a nice website. Have fun.

Hotel de L'Avre is great. It's on the border of the 7th and the 15th at the metro: La Motte Picquet-Grenelle. Great metro cuz it's the hub for 3 major lines which makes it quicker and easier to get places. It's not far from the Ecole Militaire/Champ de Mars. Love the hotel. Owner and staff are wonderful. Great rates. www.hoteldelavre.com

Depending upon your willingness to travel a little farther, I would suggest the Citea chain of apparthotels scattered around Paris. They are used more by the French and not so much by U.S. tourists. Generally the rooms are small but have fully furnished kitchenettes. That is a great feature for in room meals. A few even have indoor pools. We just booked one for 69 Euros, which I think is an excellent price. BTW, these can be found in many of France's larger cities. Generally in out of the way locations but near public transportation.

Hello. My husband and I are in our 60's. We spent 6 nights at the Hotel Le Littre (6th arron.) last June. We loved the hotel and its location. We are returning there next May in fact. Elaine

My wife and I were in Paris in late September, and stayed at the Hotel des Deux Avenues, on rue Poncelet in the 17th Arr. It's about 2 blocks from the Terne metro stop, and about 4 blocks or so from the Arc de Triumph. Lots and lots of good places to eat nearby, and an easy stroll to the shops along the upper end of the Champs-Elysees. Rue Poncelet is a "market street", with one end of the street blocked off during the day to accommodate the vendors. Lots of fresh vegetables, cheeses, seafood, and all sorts of other things. Visiting the market was one of the highlights of our stay in Paris.
The hotel rooms were small, as usual in Paris, but the service was outstanding. The breakfast was more than adequate. Cost was about 110 euros. We're going back to Paris in April, and plan another stay at the Hotel des Deux Avenues.

If you can put up with absolute simplicity in the room (zero star?), try http://www.hoteldebelfort.com/. It is about two blocks from a Metro station, in a part of the city away from touristy stuff. I will be staying there later this month for my second time. We will be paying 50 euros per night for two.

Randall; I've stayed in many a hotel that looks just like this one. (I just went to the website.) It seems to have 2 stars and breakfast is 6 euro. I like the location, too. I'm familiar with that part of the city. Thanks.
