Sleeping in Sintra Potugal

There were only two recommendations in Rick's book about Sintra hotels. Does anyone have any other suggestions? We will be there early October. Cindy

We stayed in the Hotel Nova Sintra and had a wonderful experience. Bernardo was so helpful and a wonderful host. Great location near train station and town. I would highly recommend it.

Cindy, We loved the Sintra Bliss House (I reviewed the SBH on Trip Advisor - please check it out for details). We stayed 3 nights in Sintra and 2 in Lisbon - if I could invoke a "do-over" it would have been 5 nights in Sintra and a day trip to Lisbon. By the way, we also traveled to Nazare, Porto, the Duoro, Maravao and Evora. Great sites, people and food (in all, a 15 day adventure). Have a wonderful trip.

Oh my gosh!! I rarely will ever recommend a splurge, BUT, in Sintra - SPLURGE! if you can swing it / justify it with a special occasion / or just plain spoil yourselves, I highly recommend the Tivoli Palácio de Seteais. It's a fabulous, romantic historic hotel - the place is beautiful inside, with lovely gardens and a terraced view that is gorgeous! The breakfasts and high tea are great. I was really impressed when I was there in 2009 and a stay here would be the first thing that I would include for a return visit to Portugal.
