I know there's been some threads on staying in Grenada vs. Seville, but my question is somewhat more detailed. Would be a good idea to spend 5 nights in Seville with two day trips (1 to Cordoba and 1 to Grenada to see the Alhambra) or would it be better to spend 3 nights in Seville (1 day trip to Cordoba) and 2 nights in Grenada? My husband & I are the type of people who like to settle in to a place when traveling and while we like to see museums and such, we also love to sit in town squares and relax.
I don't know how the trains and buses work out, but it takes three hours to drive from Seville to Granada. That'd make it a heck of a day trip.
Your second option would be our choice and don't miss the day trip to Cordoba. We prefer Cordoba over Seville but we're not in the majority.
My recommendation would also be to stay in the 2 places. Granada is worth so much more than a day trip. Like you, we prefer to stay in the one place but if 5 nights is all you have, split it.
If traveling from the north; I would spend two nights in Granada, get an early start and visit Cordoba enroute to Seville, and then spend the balance of the time in Seville.
Vote for two days in Granada. The Alhambra is a full day by itself. Granada is a pivotal point in Spanish history needs a couple of days just to absorb it all.
Agree, you need at least 2 nights in Grenada. And while I think Cordoba is worth overnights, in just 5 days I'd recommend the 2 nights Grenada, 3 Sevilla and a daytrip to Cordoba.
Thanks for the advice everybody! Looks like I'll spend 2 nights in Granada and 3 in Seville, per your recommendations.
