My head is spinning after reading so many reviews on various websites. My husband and I will be in Salzburg for 3 days in June. Does anyone have any good suggestions for places to stay. We will not have a car. Would prefer something quiet.
Der Salzburger Haus. You can find it on Google.
Weiss Taube; check it out on tripadvisor and then go to their website.
I'll second Altstadthotel Weisse Taube right in the old center. Not super cheap but reasonable, nice, and well-situated. It gets high marks on tripadvisor...go there for photos and reviews.
Sacher Hotel, on Schwarzstrasse, right on the river: quiet, 5-star, excellent staff, fine food.
Debbie reading your question I worry that you need somebody to just tell you which place to stay. Your head is spinning from the various websites. I expect one of those is probably Tripadvisor, which has a good overview of the city. So now you have 4 more answers, with suggestions for 3 more places. I'd also give you a place which is quiet and where we regularly stay, but I worry that it would just be one more to overwhelm you. It may be time to pick one or two and ask if we can give input rather than collecting more?
Thank you all for your suggestions. And yes, TripAdvisor was one of those sites that could be particularly overwhelming. All of your replies prompted me to figure out exactly what was needed in accommodations. With allergies to feather and smoke, the bottom line was a place that was smoke free, offered hypo-allergenic bedding and air conditioning if only to shut out the street noise. We finally booked at the Best Western Elefant. Even came with free breakfast, free internet and a good price. Again, thank you.
I've stayed with Helga Bankhammer on 77 Moosstrasse (in Rick's book) twice and found it to be very quiet and clean. In addition, Helga speaks perfect English and was helpful in providing advice about sights and dining. Great expereince....both times.
Just outside Salzburg. Very quiet. 5 min walk from lokalbahn (light rail)
