Sleeper train from Vienna to Prague

In the updates for Rick Steves' guidebooks, it says:

Connections
A Prague–Vienna sleeper car (not a couchette), not mentioned in the book (or on Deutsche Bahn online schedules), leaves the Hl.N. station at 23:10 and arrives at Vienna Westbahnhof the next morning at 6:30. Coming from Vienna, that train leaves the Westbahnhof each night at 22:08 and arrives in Prague at about 6:15

However, when I checked this out on the bahn.de website, it looks like the 22:08 train from the Westbahnhof gets in at 3:22 am, not 6:15 am. There is another 22:08 train that leaves from Südbahnhof Ostbahn, but it changes in Bratislava.

Does anyone know anything about the train described in the update?

I'm aware that there is one that arrives at 3:22 (see my question above) - however, what I'm looking for is a sleeper that arrives around 6 am (NOT 3:22) and that has no changes. OBB gave me the same info as Bahn.de.

I just wish the RS updates would have included the fact that there is a change of trains at Bratislava for the train coming into Praha at 6:15 am.

While there is the strong possibility I'm reading this incorrectly, according to IDOS.cz (the official Czech Rail website) there is a train departing Wien Meidling at 22:23 that arrives to Praha hl.n at 6:15 without transfers. It's the D406 Chopin 470, the entire journey takes 7h52m.

This gets discussed from time to time on the TripAdvisor.com Vienna and Prague forums, HERE is a recent discussion about the matter.

Good luck!

Well, I'm probably being a little TOO cheap. :) Eurolines is a possibility, though - I'll check it out. And you're right - the distance is a little too short to be a real sleeper, but it did seem convenient in that I wouldn't have a get a hotel room (I'm heading back to Prague merely to fly out the next day).

Thanks for the info!

We took the thrifty bus from Prague to Vienna and it was just fine. The seats were comfortable and we had our snacks. There was a very basic toilet on the bus which I managed to avoid, think it was BYOTP and a hostess who brought complementary hot chocolate. Videos with subtitles as I recalled were shown. Better than some trains I've taken

It looks like the sleeper is pretty expensive so it's probably not worth it. The bus is a good idea - I rode buses all over Turkey and they can be pretty comfortable.

When you talk about the "thrifty" bus, do you mean the Student Agency bus?
