In order to get a day to go to the Nurburg Ring, my husband and I are considering a sleeper on the train from Koblenz to Zurich. The train doesn't leave until 1:00 a.m and Rick's guide doesn't seem to think much of Koblenz. Is it a stupid idea? Alternatives? Safe things to do in Koblenz until 1:00 a.m.? Your help is much appreciated.

Koblenz is a nice but not spectacular town. It's safe and you can have a late dinner and some drinks before boarding your train. Check www.koblenz.de for more information on what to do in town.
