Sleep is Cochem or Zell??

Hello,

I am wondering if anyone has stayed at Franz Josef Weis winery in Zell or Rademacher winery in Cochem??

We will have a car for the Mosel journey (2 days) and were unsure of which winery we should stay at...

Has anyone stayed at either of these places? Or been to either of these towns?

Please advise.

Thanks!!

Julie

My girlfriend and I stayed at Rademacher about two months ago and we recommend it highly. If you want more info, send me a message. We didn't make it to Zell so I won't be much help there.

We drove through both of these towns last October but decided to stay in Beilstein at Haus Lippman. We loved it--lots of charm for not a big price. Two restaurants are within the hotel/B&B and both very good. Breakfast was excellent and served by candlelight.

A friend and I stayed in the little town of Beilstein a couple of years ago and loved it. Beautiful little town with a couple of very nice restaurants overlooking the Mosel. Beilstein is about midway between Zell and Cochem and a lot quieter.

I love Cochem - its the larger of the small towns and great location in the middle of the Mosel. Great castle too. I stayed at the rick recommended "Lorschpreicher"? (sp?) - a great family run place with a great restaurant. Not the cheapest but a great deal considering the high prices for big city hotels! Also Eltz and Marksburg are just train rides north, and Bernkastel, Trier just a ride south. 30-40 min or so. Lots of great hiking around the hills in the vineyards at Cochem too!

We drove the Mosel in late May, stayed two days at Haus Andreas (in R Steves book). It was nice, good brekafast, in center of town. Cochem has more activity than Zell.

Hi Julie,

We stayed 4 nights by Cochem and loved it. While we didn't stay at the places you're looking at, but Cochem would be my choice. It is a beautiful old town. Just an opinion here.... Don't miss visiting Burg Eltz while in the area! Outstanding castle in the perfect castle setting!
