3 couples looking for quaint, Rick Steves' funky and reasonable accommodation in Lucerne and Montreux in the middle of August. 2 nights in Lucerne and 1 in Montreux. We will have Eurail Global Passes. We can group as 3 doubles, 2 triples or 1 double and 1 quad.
That will be hard to find in Montreux, but in nearby Vevey, checkmout the Riviera Lodge. It calls itself a hostel, but they have private rooms, including quads.
Thanks. We appreciate your suggestion but it's booked.
We stayed at the Hotel des Alpes in Lucerne a couple of years ago. Nothing is Lucerne is reasonable, but Hotel des Alpes was as close to reasonable as we could find. Very nice breakfast overlooking the river/lake. It is definitely somewhat funky. That may explain why it has dropped dramatically in the tripadvisor rankings. I believe that it was comfortably in the top 10 when we stayed; it is not in the middle of the 60+ ranked.
The Riviera Lodge is not showing availabilitynof any rooms for any date I checked in August, or July, or June. They do offer rooms in May. What that suggests is they are not yet taking online reservations for dates after June 1. I suggest you email them, or fill out the online request form.
