Skype Question

First, a disclaimer, I have never used Skype and really don't know anything about it...

They advertise an unlimited monthly rate of $13.99, no contract, no minimun number of months. So, if I signed up, I could purchase one month, for the three weeks I will be gone. I can call unlimted from anywhere to anywhere, either skype-to-skype, landlines and cell phones. Correct?

If I am traveling from Paris, Reims, Colmar (France), to Freiburg (Germany), will I have a problem with wifi accress? Is it a good method for keeping in contact with friends and family while traveling?

I will be bringing either a netbook or a laptop. I'm in the market for new laptop and thinking about purchasing the Toshiba Portege Laptop, but still undecided right now...

As long as you can find Wi-Fi access you will be great. I don't do the month-to-month for the Skype but I end up buying $10 worth of time. I can usually go a full 3 week trip without having to buy any more time and we call back to the kids in Las Vegas and to my parents here almost everyday when overseas.

We can vouch for the $10 at a time approach. Here in Holland, it costs about 2 c a minute. My husband even did a 3 hour conferance call back to Florida on less than $10.
