Skype phone calls

My parents called me multiple times last fall from locations in Italy and Switzerland and the reception was always great. They were using Skype on their iphone and I was using Skype on my computer. They would connect to the hotel's wifi. In Florence they were even able to walk to an outdoor area of the hotel and show me the Duomo. As long as you have a strong enough connection you should have a good quality call.

Hi Jerry, so your real question is: Do they in Europe have decent Internet connection? Rest assured, we do. I managed to upload these lines here from a European Internet connection... Skype is great but Facetime also works very well and is free, too. What you can do to check if your WiFi connection is good enough is to use speedtest.net (the iPhone app e.g.) prior to making that call. And in a worst case scenario, if the connection really isn't good enough for a Skype call you can still use the Skype instant message part as it requires hardly any bandwith...
