Skip Ibiza...more time in Barcelona????

My boyfriend and I leave in 3 weeks for Spain & Portugal. We keep hearing that Barcelona is the best city and that we need to spend a lot of time there. We really would like to go to Ibiza but am now thinking maybe we should skip it to spend more time in Barcelona...this is our itenerary...

Madrid 3 nights
Barcelona 3 nights
Ibiza 2 nights
Valencia 2 nights
Granda 3 nights
Sevilla 2 nights
Lagos 3 nights
Lisbon 3 nights

However we may end up taking a night off Barcelona if we decide to do the overnight ferry to Ibiza. I put up a post on Ibiza a few weeks ago to see if anyone has been there. It's not covered in Rick's books but I hear it's fabulous for the night scene. Any tips/suggestions? We will have 3 full days in Barcelona and now maybe only 2 nights in Barcelona. Is that enough for Barcelona? If not we want to skip a night somewhere else on our itenerary. Any suggestions where to shave a night off??? Thanks!

Just returned from 14 nights in Spain total, going to many of the places on your itinerary. We did 3 nights in Barcelona and in hind-sight would have done at least one more. As for the big cities, Barcelona was by far the best; very fashionable, cosmopolitan, young crowd. Depending on when your Alhambra reservations are for, I think you could definately cut a night out of Granada; we did 2 nights (stayed at Hostal Viena-perfect location) and I was more than ready to move on, but I felt like we saw everything. If you don't have Alhambra reservations get there about 8am to line up. While we were waiting in the reservation line, we noted the walk up ticket line was already wrapped around and around by 8:45. All of RS suggestions for sights and lodging were right on; very useful book for our trip. Send me a private e-mail if more info desired.

I have heard great things about Ibiza and Barcelona.
I think that 2 nights in Barcelona should be ok. Three would be better. We are only doing 2 nights there but 5 nights in Sitges where we will do some day trips into Barcelona.

So another thought is to do Sitges which is 30 minutes south of barcelona.
It is suppose to be a smaller less wild but still great beaches and party scene. I think it might be more gay oreinted than Ibiza.
