Just curious if anyone has any information as to whether we'll be able to hit the slopes on May 6th this year. I see that most sites say that Chamonix is open until mid-May. We're starting to make reservations and only would want to go to Chamonix if we were able to ski/board. Otherwise, we'd prefer to spend more time in the French countryside. Anyone know about this? Also, can anyone recommend any chalets that are more remote than in the town of Chamonix, but still somewhat close by? Thanks!!!
Verbier, Switzerland is a great town to stay in and ski, lots of other towns around there as well. Doubtful it'd be great skiing first week of May though. Look for Glacier skiing, they have earlier start dates and later closing dates. You may just have to wing it when you get there depending on weather.
I am not sure if there is a good answer to your question. Totally dependent on the weather - warm spring, cold spring and the amount of winter snow. My guess would be a low probability. We could not give you that answer in Colorado until sometime near the end of April. We have one resort that tries to stay open till the 4th of July. Sometimes they make.
