Skiing in Germany

We are planning a vacation for early December 2007. We will have about a week, and plan to go to Munich and the surrounding area. The kids (ages 13 & 9) have never skiied, but would like to try it. I found a resort on the internet that has a ski school and snowboarding. What info can anyone give me about Skischule Lenggries? I can see from their website that they rent equipment. Is there somewhere in Munich where goggles & helmets can also be rented? I would rather not buy them or carry them. Are there other resorts/ski areas that we should consider? Any info you could give would be most appreciated. Thanks.

Margaret, most sports department of the larger department stores or sports equipment stores rent out equipment - so do ski rental places. BUT personally I found buying cheap goggles, gloves etc. from the Wal Mart like places is still cheaper than renting. After your skiing trip just leave them with your hotel or B&B. About the resort: Due to climate change the Bavarian alps aren't that snow-save anymore. Get as high up as you can. E.g. if you stay in the Füssen/Neuschwanstein area there is great skiing just across the Austrian border in Tannheimer Tal (Tannheim Valley) near Reutte in Tyrol. Also the Arlberg area just 90mins south of Munich (towards the Lake of Constance) is just beautiful plus rather snow-save. Every single resort in Austria and Bavaria provides ski and snowboard schools and eqiupment renting.
