I will be staying in Barcelona in a couple of weeks and wanted to take a day trip to Sitges Beach. I am a little confused on how to get there. Is it a metro ride away or do I need to get on a real train? Will my global pass cover that? Do I need reservations? thanks so much!
It's a commuter train - no reservations. Sorry I can't answer the question about the pass.
Found my info! The train is the Renfe Cercanias. Catch it at the Sants station in Barcelona. To go to Sitges, you take the train headed to Vilanova - St. Vicenc de Calders. There are six of these commuter lines and each line comes around as often as every five minutes, depending on the time of day, so it can get confusing on the platform. Watch the lighted signs showing which train is coming in. (The good part is, if you miss one there will be another along shortly.) To return (not so confusing, since the Sitges station is small), get the train headed to Macanet. I'm not sure what a "global pass" is but, since this is part of the Renfe system, I'd think it would work. We spent two weeks in Sitges and loved it.
Thank you so much Janet. That was exactly what I needed!
