Anyone have any advice on what to see/do or where to eat in Bremen? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!
I agree, not much to see in Bremen. The "Schnoor" called old-town area (on an island in the Weser river) is quite nice and so is the main square. That's it. If you can take a day trip to Münster/Westfalen. Now that's worthwhile...
Hmm, I spent this past Easter Monday there. To be honest there wasn't a whole lot to see, the main square with the statue of the 4 travelling musicans seems to be the biggest attraction. (Warning it's tiny)..also if you like Becks Beer, it is brewed in the city and I believe you can tour the factory.
Can't realy recommend a place to eat however, we ate at the only place open, Alex and had a great brunch there (very American however) but I'm sure there are a lot to choose from.
I hope this doesn't come across as if I didn't enjoy Bremen, it was a part of one of my favorite trips.
We lived in Bremerhaven, the harbor town north of the city. I liked living there but was never sure what a tourist would do. I liked walking the dike between Bremerhaven and Cuxhaven, and biking the polder lands. Bird watching was great. Several weather fronts might move through in a single day.
It has been too many years to recommend a restaurant. When I was there, Bremerhaven was the largest fishing port in Europe. We ate lemon sole and halibut rather than schnitzel and wurst. That was a good trade off for me.
At Bremerhaven, the Weser River was wide enough that you could barely see across it. Cuxhaven definitely had the feeling of the sea.
