I am planning a solo trip to S, P and Morocco this Summer. My family got me a new cell phone which can be used in Europe. Does anyone know where I can buy a SIM card to use there ? I land in Barcelona and fly out of Portugal. Is there a card for 3 countries or should I buy individual cards? Thanks, Carla from CO
You will probably be economically ahead to purchase a separate card for each country. There are shops in the airport (El Prat, BCN) which sell Spanish SIMs. Look for either Vodafone or Telefónica.
I'd grab a SIM like the following that can be used in all of the countries, especially if you won't be staying in each for a really long time: http://www.telestial.com/view_product.php?PRODUCT_ID=MSIM-EX01
The card is usually cheaper than this. Spain/Portugal seem to have good rates, though Morocco is more.
Carla,
You might also want to check Cellular Abroad and Roam Simple for "travel SIM cards. Be sure to check the rate structures carefully, so that you have a clear understanding of the costs.
I'm assuming that your new Cell Phone is a quad-band, unlocked model? Also, be sure to check the Charger to make sure it's designed to work on European electrical systems.
Happy travels!
Great unbiased information on the various national and international carriers can be found at prepaidgsm.net (warning NOT .com).
