If you had to chose btwn the amalfi coast or Sicily which would you choose.
I was having the same problem deciding where to spend time and decided on the Amalfi Coast for 4 days in lieu of a shorter stay and trying to get to Sicily. In fact, we'll be spending 4 full days and nights in Cinque Terre (again) and spending the same amount of time on the Amalfi Coast with our room in Positano. I figure Sicily will still be there when I get around to going there.
Sicily, Sicily, Sicily. We were in Taromino on Palm Sunday 2 yrs ago-weather beautiful and better greek, roman ruins than either in Italy or Greece.
I've been to both, and both are beautiful, but the Amalfi Coast is the most stunningly beautiful place I have ever seen in my life. Nothing else even comes close.
Depends on the time of year. Sicily is just beautiful and awesome in Spring, and nice in early Fall, but can get very, very hot in summer.
We have done trips where we did both, since Naples is such an easy jumping off point for Sicily (plane, ferry, train).
If you have never been to the Amalfi coast, do that 1st, and make your base Sorrento. Then plan a trip to Sicily for another venture. Also look at the Aeolian Islands on the No coast of Sicily, a wonderful destination when combined with a trip to No Sicily.
I haven't been to Sicily. Agree with Betsy, the Amalfi Coast is a stunning part of the world. Hard to beat.
