Shopping in Kinderdijk

I was wondering if there are any store in Kinderdijk. My mother loves to shop and was wondering if there are very small pairs of clogs to display. Thanks!

When I last visited Kinderdijk, a couple years ago, there was nothing there that was commercial. ... it was more of a natural setting - simply rows of windmills, showing the different styles - and boy, some of them are pretty big up close ! You can also go inside and tour one, but a shopping area it was not. If your mom wants some wooden shoes, then I would say to visit Zaanse Schans, which is an outdoor museum. There is a building there where you can see wooden clogs being made, and there were lots and lots to buy, of seemingly every size. I'm sure your mom could find something there.

There is a small shop souvenir shop, at the north entrance to the dike. The nearby town of Alblasserdam has several stores, but not the type of place where you would buy clogs.

I agree with both of the above comments. Its up to you and your Mom and what you prefer in an experience. Kinderdijk is extremely secluded, very natural, I remember my niece coming face to face with a tethered goat as we walked from windmill to windmill, there are all sorts of birds, etc. Not in any way a tourist trap, although it is a small tourist draw. I took about 150 photos in 3 hours of walking around. Zaanse Schans is most definitely a big tourist draw and has coaches full of international tourists by the dozen going there from Amsterdam. There are shops, the above mentioned clog maker, souvenir shops, museums including an oil press windmill and mustard mill. When I went there I really enjoyed it, although not as much as some other places and probably only took a dozen or fewer photos. Zaanse Schans is only a few minutes walk from a train station (how I got there) and has easy parking. Its near an industrial area in the middle of a town.
