I'm 14 and going to paris with my family next year. I would love to get some shoes in paris, and I'm wondering if anyone knows where to get good shoes for not much more than an average american price, say $20-40?
There are dozens of clothing and shoe shops along rue Rivoli between Pont Neuf all the way down past Hotel de Ville. You won't have any trouble finding something cute and reasonably priced!
The French are very much into shoes and so am I - every arondissement has plenty of shoe stores. Depending on when you go, you might be there during the Soldes - sales on everything, but only during January and July, the timing is government regulated, I believe.
Also, Bon Marché, BHV, Le Printemps and Galeries Lafayette, the main French "department stores" have fantastic shoe departments. There are also Zara, H&M stores. Monoprix, a lower cost "department/grocery" store chain has reasonably-priced shoes also.
If you visit any of the outdoor markets, you can often buy stylish clothes and shoes for much less than in the stores. Some Metro stations even have kiosks with scarves, handbags and shoes.
I've been to Paris three times and have brought back at least two or three pairs each time - if you want more information, email me privately.
Thanks so much!
My daughter loves shoes, and in July she bought 5 or 6 pairs of shoes in Paris. She bought 2 pairs at a little shop on Rue Cler (2 pair for 20 Euro) and in the the Marais district and found that the north side of Rue de Rivoli was lined with shoes stores(we got off at the St. Paul Metro stop and walked toward Hotel de Ville). I think the most she paid was $30 for one pair. The rest averaged about $15 each. She had made sure her 14x22 suitcase was not full when we left for the trip so she'd have rooms for shoes from Paris and purses from Florence. We stayed in Montmartre area and found shops with shoes everywhere there as well. Have fun!
