Sherry tasting

We will be in Cadiz at the end of October on a cruise and were thinking of trying to go somewhere to see how sherry is made and/or sherry tasting. Any suggestions? We are in port from 8 AM to 6 PM, but don't want to spend too long so that we can also walk around Cadiz.

We did our sherry tasting in Jerez, not far from Cadiz. I don't recall any active Bodegas in Cadiz. I'd be interested in others' opinions of Cadiz. For us it was disappointing. It has tons of history but, unfortunately, it's not well preserved. If you go to Jerez, both the Gonzalo Bayass (commonly called Tio Pepe) and Domecq Bodegas are walking distance from the TI. We were glad we toured both. Tio Pepe is much bigger and has dedicated English tours. Domecq is much smaller but we met people from Spain, France and Japan on the tour (and they're much more generous with their sherry!). Sherry's go from clear and dry, Tio Pepe and Manzanilla, to very sweet and dark, Pedro Jiminez or 1790. The sherry everyone drank at the Seville Fair was Manzanilla (made by Osbourne/Domecq). Mixed with 7up it was the spritzer to sip on through the day. Osbourne also makes Harvey's Bristol Cream, which is considered a medium sweet sherry and a favorite of QE2 (but for export only). I googled and found this in Cadiz, but it may be more of a wine tasting/bar/cafe than a Bodega. BODEGA NICANOR, Rosario Nº8 11004 Cadiz Spain There is also: Bodega de Mora Calle de Fernán Caballero, 7, 11500 El Puerto de Santa María, Spain Puerto de Santa Maria is across the bay from Cadiz on the mainland. It looks like an industrial port city, not a destination. This one appears to be owned by Osborne/Domecq. There are also some nice beaches not far south of Cadiz in Chiclana. Cadiz itself sits on a thin peninsula with very little beach to speak of.
