Seville to Malaga or Marbella Bus/Train?

Well we are getting closer to our trip and have some last minute details to work out. Thank you all for the help you have given thus far.

We will be staying in Marbella for a week at the Marriot Marbella and will be traveling from Seville. We will have at least 2 large suitcases and a large backpack. Our rental car for now is from Malaga but we are checking to see about the rates from Marbella.

What is the best way to get to the Malaga airport from Seville with suitcases?

What alternatives do we have to go directly to Marbella with suitcases? We don't mind paying a higher cost for a taxi but do not want to go from train to bus etc with luggage.

Since we would really like a rental from Marbella to be dropped at Malaga we have several messages into agencies and the conciege looking into it for us.

Also any suggestions for car rentals with a reasonable one way rate Seville to Marbella (automatic only).

Suggestions welcome.

Thanks

Sue

If you want to rent a car in one spot, spend a week in Marbella, then return it at Malaga, why not consider a one-way rental from Sevilla? Their one-way rates Sevilla-Malaga shouldn't be much different than Marbella-Malaga...and if you pick up and drop off at the airports, the rates may even be a bit better.
If that stretches you out beyond a week, and adds too much to the cost, consider renting from Sevilla and dropping in Marbella. You'll be without a car for the final day or two of your holiday there, but that shouldn't be a problem...save local things to do for those days. Then you can take the efficient bus service from Marbella right to the Malaga airport. At this time of year, there's a bus every two hours or so....about 45 minutes direct to the airport, at less than five Euro per person. You can find those schedules here.
For rentals in Spain, I've always had the best rates from carjet.co.uk, a brokerage. The probably won't quote you a one-way from Sevilla airport on their website, but you can e-mail them and they'll send a quote back to you.

Last time I checked the prices were extremely high but I will check again.

No doubt that the Malaga airport rentals (pick up and return to the same place) are among the lowest in Spain. If you need to get from Sevilla to Malaga, the best way is by train. You can take the high-speed train up to Cordoba then down to Malaga in just under two hours for about 36 Euro....or the regional train, which takes about 2.5 hours at 19 Euro per person.
When you get to Malaga's main station (Maria Zambrano) you'll have to take the Cercania regional train out to the airport. The tracks are right next door to where you'll arrive, so you'll have to go out thru the exit doors, make a U-turn to the right, and out thru the doors into the Cercania area. Your ticket should be good for the Cercania ride. There's a train every half hour, and the journey takes about 15 minutes.

I have not been able to get a quote one way from carjet (I remember trying months ago) so I may have to call them tomorrow to see if they will do a one way. The other sites I checked on Expedia are 600 for a one way automatic and National (we have a university contact with them) does not have an office there. I might call carjet to see what they can do but I do remembering checking this last round.

Any more thoughts.....hope they can do it over the phone when we call.
