What is the easiest route to take, should we get a bus to Algercirus and take a taxi from there to Gibralter. Or is it quicker and easier to hire a car and driver

Hi Rita,
Get a bus to La Linea. You can walk from the bus station into Gibralter. You can find the bus timetables (and lots of other invaluable info) at www.andalusia.com . Have a great trip!

Dont consider hiring a car; take the bus. It will be cheaper and take very little more travel time.

Maggie's suggestion sounds good to me.

The bus to La Linea is best. La Linea is the town literally right across the street from the entrance to Gibralter. Avoid taking a car into Gibralter; the lines are long and slow. The Spanish would really like to take possession of Gibralter. Then after you walk through the gate, be prepared for the unique experience of walking across the runway of the Gibralter airport. Yep, there you are along with the big British airways jets! and the famous Rock in the background.

Don't miss tea at the Rock hotel. From the comfy lounge chairs, you can see Africa through the huge picture windows!

In Rich's Spain book, he has a great little day tour outlined, using Gibraltar's buses. It works very well. You pick up the first bus just across the border...it will take you all the way out to the far end, where you can see the North African coast. The coming back, you can stop and take the cable car to the top...unforgettable views!
