Seville to Gibraltar Day Trip

Hi,
I'd like to do a day trip from Seville to Gibraltar. I've planned everything else out, and at this point the itinerary is no longer flexible. I have 1 day, August 10th, in Seville, which I can spend on a day trip to Gibraltar.

I would appreciate any advice about guided tours or something similar. I've looked at buses, but if I leave early in the morning and hope to return by midnight, I would only have about an hour in Gibraltar.

Thanks in advance.

I would recommend that you rent a car in Seville (Crown Car Hire have very resonable rates, I've used it.) and then drive to Gibraltar. You should be able to find tour guides near the Catholic church in Gib. Make sure that you have your passports with you. Also there is no VAT (Value Added Tax) in Gib so shopping may be good however, the Spanish customs/immigration checkpoint (on reentering Spain) do check returning tourists and asks a few questions. Some of the larger stores (if you're buying large expensive items) offer to mail them back to the States.

Also by driving, you may be able to visit one of the Pueblos Blancos on the way. A side trip to Cadiz or Puerto de Santa Maria is even possible if you take the coastal route which is more scenic.

Buen Viaje

Thanks. I've looked into driving and I think it will be my last resort. I'm going by myself as my travel companions lack my enthusiasm for seeing The Rock. Driving is going to cost at least 120 euros.

I found a tour agency called, DiscoverSevilla, but they don't pick up the phone and I can't find any reviews or dates. Any further help is appreciated.

When we crossed into Spain about 6 years ago, the customs officials were mainly interested in whether we were bringing cigarettes into Spain.

On a side note - since GIB uses the British currency, the hotels were insanely expensive relative to what you get.

We went to Gilbraltar in April. Parked our rental car in Spain and walked across the airstrip. We walked the entire time - no taxis, buses or tours. Took the aerial tram up to the top - the views are incredible. The old area of town is quite easy to walk around and very British, you'll know that you're in the UK. If you rent a car and leave Seville EARLY in the morning you should get a good taste.
