Seville, Spain

Hello everyone...I am looking for a place where to stay in Seville for 3 nights during June. Also if you have any information about what to do or go in Spain. (Barcelona, Madrid, Seville...and still deciding one more place to visit :) Thanks in advance!

Have you looked at any guidebooks especially Steves' Spain book? We enjoyed the Hotel Amadeus in Sivilla.

In 2009, we stayed at the El Rey Moro (http://www.hotelelreymoro.com/), right in the heart of the Barrio Santa Cruz. We walked or took public transportation everywhere we wanted to go from there. It gets good reviews from Trip Advisor (ranked #6 of 172 in Seville). There is an elevator to the upper floors. Our room was beautiful especially the tile work. You might find this link (http://gospain.about.com/od/spanishlife/a/24hoursinSpain.htm) about how to spend 24 hours in Spain useful for your trip. It's funny and helpful. We never quite got the timing right, and had some funny stories about that, but we managed just fine. Barcelona was about the Ramblas, Gaudi and Juan Miro for us. Picasso's Guernica and the Prado called us to Madrid. We went to Seville primarily to see Flamenco and for a side trip to the Mezquita in Cordoba. San Sebastian (for the food) with a side trip to Bilbao to see the museum was our last stop in Spain before we headed back into France. I don't think you can go wrong wherever you pick to go or whatever you do. I can hardly wait to go back.

I'm a fellow-Californian living in Seville since 2004, and I recommend the Hotel Las Casas de la Juderia, a rambling complex that unites several old palacios into a wonderful hotel with a real Andalucian feel. Even if you don't stay there, have tea or drinks in the lounge just off the reception area, where you can sit in overstuffed armchairs and listen to live piano music. As for another place to visit, I would strongly recommend the Alhambra in Granada. It's a few hours away by train and considered one of the wonders of the world, the last and most spectacular of the Moorish palace complexes with gorgeous gardens. Advance reading: Tales of the Alhambra by Washington Irving, who collected old legends there, including the one that became his famous headless horseman story. Good luck and have fun! Karen McCann
