Hello,
We are going to Spain and Portugal in late September and early October with my 4 year old daughter. We've found a lovely apartment while we're in Seville in the Santa Cruz district. Seems as though Spain has an extensive night life, so we might not make it back to our apartment before dark. Does anyone know how safe this area is at night? Want to make sure before we secure our reservation.
Also, it looks like the weather is pretty temperate, around the 70's this time of year? (Traveling to madrid, Seville and Lisbon the last week of September and first week of October).
Thanks!
There is a song which says the "Sevilla has two parts, one for the tourists and the other is where the people live." Barrio Stª Cruz is the first part. It is the prettiest part of town, and as a base of operations, is probably a good choice, but your contact with the "real" Seville will be minimal. Seville is not a violent town, in general, but you should apply common sense whenever you go out walking about any modern city. I usually waited until Oct. 31st to get my winter jacket out each year. End of Sept. and beginning of Oct. a sports coat or denim jacket will be adequate for the evening chill. During the day you may even find yourself sweating. Have a great trip, you'll be there at one of the nicest times of the year.
Just returned from Seville with a stay in the Santa Cruz district with my mother and two teenage daughters. As four meandering women after dark we felt very safe, but of course, always being aware and using common sense is the only way to go...
We have spent probably about a month in Seville over the last couple of years, in 4 - 5 visits. We have always stayed in Barrio Santa Cruz and have never felt in any danger at all. The weather will still be quite warm at that time of the year.
Thanks so much for your replies! Of course an amount of caution should always be exercised, even at home! We have gone ahead with our reservations and are eagerly awating our adventure de espana! :)
