Seville and Granada

I will be in Spain in early May. how far is Granada from Seville? Is it too far for a day trip? Does it make more sense to go to Granada, then take the train to Seville and spend more days in Seville ( I fly back to the states from Madrid).
Thanks

Granada is about 3 hrs via train. You could do a day trip but it would a very long day. It would make more sense to do an overnight. The Alhambra can easily take most of one day besides the other sites in the city. I would make a circle trip and hit Granada either coming or going.

Frank is right on and just to add a couple things: The bus is far more frequent and cheaper between Sevilla and Granada. Granada requires 2 nights since La Alhambra is close to a full day. And be sure to reserve your ticket in advance as it is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Europe and does fill up.
