We are traveling to Seville from Barcelona any suggestions as to what area we should stay in as first time visitors to Seville. Thanks for your help.
Linda - we just got back from a trip last month. We stayed in the Barrio Santa Cruz neighborhood at the Hotel Amadeus. We very much enjoyed the area for food and nice neighborhood feel. I will say that it was a little confusing - we didn't realize until our last day that we were taking the "long way" around to the Cathedral, but we really didn't mind it as we enjoyed looking at things as we walked. I suppose you could stay closer to the Cathedral but since it was a short walk (provided you got your directions right!) I don't know think that any particular area in the historic center would be inconvenient.
Hi Linda-
I was there in December and stayed at the Best Western Hotel Cervantes. I booked through Orbitz and it was $75 (yes dollars) per night. It was a great deal. The room was very nice, it had wi-fi, and they offered free sherry in the lounge every evening. The shower had great water pressure, too. I can't remember the name of the exact neighborhood but it was centrally located and a quick walk everywhere. I recommend it without hesitation. Enjoy your trip!

Just for a different perspective, I'd suggest researching and considering the Triana district. It's on the other side of the river from a lot of the tourist attractions, but it's the artists' district of Sevilla (so we were told, at least) and had great local flavor and fun. We met lots of interesting individuals, and it was an easy walk to get anywhere we needed to go. If you're only staying for a day or two, I'd say stay in the Barrio Santa Cruz area, but if you've got more days to play with, consider Triana.
Thanks for all your wonderful suggestions!!!
Barrio de Santa Cruz is the only choice, in my opinion.
