Sevilla, Spain...Santa Cruz vs Near the Cathedral neighborhoods

Any recommendation for a 24 yr old couple to stay in Sevilla, Spain? Santa Cruz or near the Cathedral? Any specific recommendations? Looking for something under 75e or so but preferably 50/60e. We would prefer a private room and most hostels don't have any. Do you know of any low budget hotels? Thanks.

Other than in Rick's Spain book, I don't know of any in that price range but you can sure search on tripadvisor. Hotels in that area of Seville are on the expensive side so you might need to stay away from there some.

Anna...try searching on hostels.com and similar sites, and look for "hostals" listed for Sevilla (the website may want "Seville" as the search term.) Hostals are wedged in between hostels and hotels in Spain, and provide clean and inexpensive accommodations. I stay at the Hostal Redes, about a 10 minute walk along Calle Alfonso XII from Plaza de la Encarnation and all the pedestrian shopping streets. A single private ensuite is 44 Euro per night....a double ensuite is 62 Euro per night. I don't know if you'd consider this too far out of the way, but it sure is nice and quiet! If you want to stay a little closer to the action, there are lots of great "hostals" in the Santa Cruz area....probably the best spot for "atmosphere."

We just returned from Spain. We splurged in Seville and stayed in the Hotel Amadeus for a double it was 80 Euro + taxes. BUT about 2 doors down from us was Hostal Cordoba so maybe you could find out something about them on tripadvisor. The location was fabulous. Only took about 2 minutes to walk to the Cathedral and Alcazar. We were in the edge of the Santa Cruz district.

I lived in Seville for years, and as such, never stayed in a hostel. However, I've heard good things about Hostal Los Arqueros -- C/ Arqueros (Just off of Sta. Mª Blanca in Stª Cruz). Personally, I really like the folks who run Sol y Luna on C/ Pérez Galdós (one of the local bar-hopping hot spots). Neither of those should break your budget. If you would like to splurge on luxury while wallowing in the bohemian part of town, try Patio de la Alameda in the Alameda de Hercules. Have a good trip.
